Weddings and Baptisms

Weddings

Weddings are conducted throughout the year at St Mary's and the Rector will be pleased to help you prepare for your big day. (Contact details below).

There are, however, some current legal requirements which you will need to know about. Some frequently asked questions include ‘Can I marry outside of my parish?’, ‘Do I need to have been baptised in order to marry in Church?’, and ‘What is the Church’s current position on the remarriage of divorcees?’

Please contact the Rector for confirmation of these issues. You can also read the guidelines on the Church of England Website.

Baptisms

At St. Mary’s church we welcome all children of parents who wish their children to be baptised (christened).

Baptism services are usually held at 12:00 noon on the first and third Sundays of each month.  This is a simple service of baptism only, and there may be more than one child baptised.

Alternatively, if you wish your child to be baptised during our regular 09:45 Parish Eucharist (Holy Communion) service, this can usually be accommodated.
